Donegal Education & Training Board

Fancy studying in what’s been dubbed by the National Geographic as the ‘coolest place on the planet’? Yes, that’s Donegal we’re talking about! Not a bad endorsement.

Luckily, there are lots of further education and training options to choose from in Donegal.

Donegal Education & Training Board is the largest provider of further education and training (FET) in Donegal, with centres located throughout the county, and offers courses in a variety of sectors ranging from business administration to healthcare to hospitality. Apprenticeships are offered through Donegal ETB and work is underway to introduce new occupational apprenticeships to add to the 27 existing ‘craft’ apprenticeships.

And if you’re more interested in being outdoors than sitting at a desk, you’re in luck! Donegal ETB owns and manages Gartan Outdoor Education and Training Centre, offering an Outdoor Activity Instructor Traineeship programme.

Imagine spending all day every day out in the water or hiking up mountains, and getting paid for it? This programme is a full-time course aimed at those who want to pursue a career in the outdoors and trains participants to basic instructor standard across a range of adventure sports such as kayaking, hill walking, powerboating, emergency first aid, sailing and windsurfing.
