The Right Course for Your Career

Below we have set out the various options that will help you find the right path.
Adult Education Guidance Service
There are lots of options and it may seem a little daunting, so if you would like some guidance on the supports and opportunities available, then get in touch with our guidance service. We offer:
- One-to-one educational and career guidance
- Help with training and course applications
- Information on funding and scholarships
The friendly guidance counselors will help you to explore your options and develop a personal career progression plan. The Adult Education Guidance Service is available to everyone over 18 years of age, and those over 16 who are not in full-time education.
The Right Course
A new online portal The Right Course is a one-stop-shop for businesses, employees or unemployed persons and outlines the third level options available to them. Whether you’d like to learn new skills, update your skills or find a new direction, there is a course for you.
FETCH Courses
The Further Education and Training Course Hub (FETCH) is a brilliant resource for those looking to find out more about the full time and part-time further education training available in your area and across Ireland. From science and accounting to journalism and filmmaking there’s a course to set you on the career path you want.
FETCH Courses provides all the information you need about course types, accreditation, and career progression. Where will FETCH Courses lead you?
eCollege
eCollege provides free and interactive online training across a range of areas, predominantly in IT. The training is available at any time, for those who wish to learn at their own pace and to suit your schedule. Perfect for night owls, people in employment or those caring for others.
Most eCollege courses result in industry certification from Microsoft to Adobe and many more.
Skills to Advance
If you want to progress in your current job then Skills to Advance can help you get there.
Skills to Advance is a national initiative that provides upskilling and reskilling opportunities to employees in jobs undergoing change and to those currently employed in vulnerable sectors.
Training opportunities vary depending on local business needs so to find out what’s available in your area, get in touch with your local ETB.
Skills to Compete
If you have lost your job as a result of Covid-19 or if you are looking to re-enter the workforce after some time out, then Skills to Compete is for you. This initiative works by building your skills and helping to improve your employability to help you secure the job you want.
Skills to Compete works with the 16 local Education and Training Boards (ETBs) across Ireland to identify the business needs in each community, so you get the right skills for the jobs in your area.

Apprenticeships and Traineeships
